I wanted to try out our new BeJeweler® Pro Tool with the Swarovski Crystal Hotfix Flat Back Rhinestones, so I decided to make myself a sparkly smartphone case! It ended up being so easy that I might just make these for all my friends!
Here’s what I used:
CR0943 – 8.5 in. Classic Navy Ultra Suede
CR0996 -8.5×4 in. Executive Gray Scroll Textured Ultra Suede by Lillypilly Designs
TL2937 – BeJeweler® Pro Electric Rhinestone Setter
FT2185 – 2038 SS5 Blue Zircon Swarovski Elements Crystal Hotfix Flat Back Rhinestone
FT2198 – 2038 SS6 Blue Zircon Swarovski Elements Crystal Hotfix Flat Back Rhinestone
FT1826 – 2038 SS12 Blue Zircon Swarovski Elements Crystal Hotfix Flat Back Rhinestone
FT1909 – 2038 SS16 Blue Zircon Swarovski Elements Crystal Hotfix Flat Back Rhinestone
Here’s how I made it:
Prepare the two pieces of ultra suede, one plain (for the back) and one designed (for the front). Measure the size of your phone and add 1.5 inches to each side. For example: My phone is 2.75′ X 5.5′, so I measured and cut my fabric into two rectangles of 4.25’x 7′.
Lay out the suede fabric so that the two rectangles are laying on top of each other, with the solid color fabric on the bottom and the etched fabric lying pattern-down on top. Match up the edges so each rectangle perfectly lines up.
Sew up one long side, one short side and the second long side, so there is one opening along the “top” (short) side.
(Here is the front and the back of the case, inside out)
Turn the case right way out so that the stitching is on the inside and the design is on the outside.
(Here is the back, right way out.)
Apply the Hotfix Crystals to the front surface of the case, using the etched design as a guide. I used the Setting Hotfix Crystals with the BeJeweler® Pro Tool Technique.
