Tuesday Tips and Tricks!

tuesdaytipsandtricks-520x2102014 is almost here and that means it’s time to make resolutions for the New Year! If you’re a new beader and your goal is to learn to make jewelry in the coming year, then our Getting Started section is the perfect place to begin.

FusionBeads.com is full of free beading resources, like our Beading Q&A and Color Ideas. You’re also probably already familiar with the thousands of free projects in our Inspiration Gallery, but finding the right first project in such a long list can be overwhelming for a beginning beader. That’s why we created Getting Started, a place on the website where you can build your own beginner project with three easy steps!

Step 1 is to decide which of the three most common types of jewelry to make: a pair of earrings, a bracelet or a necklace. There are countless different ways to make each type, so we’ve narrowed it down to a short list of basic techniques in Step 2. Once you’ve selected your technique, Step 3 is to follow the simple step-by-step project instructions. Everything you need is here in Step 3, including descriptions of the tools and supplies you’ll need, as well as detailed, easy to follow steps.

You can make the exact project shown by using the items in the Products Used tab or you can use this list as a guideline to choose products from your stash of our selection online! There’s also a Tools Used tab too if you’re still filling in gaps in your tool library.

Once you’ve made a few basic projects you’ll start to see how these simple skills can be used to create a huge variety of projects! What are your beading resolutions for 2014?

Happy Tuesday! – Gretchen
